Stacey Dash, American actress born in the Bronx, made her only appearance on CNN’s Piers Morgan regarding her innocuous Romney endorsement tweet that blew up Twitter over the weekend. Piers Morgan was very gracious and supportive of Stacey Dash, who was widely criticized on Twitter as being a traitor to her race which is of African American and Mexican decent. The stunning 46-year-old mom was very well spoken in her six minute interview with Morgan.

Below is the controversial tweet:

Piers Morgan of Stacey Dash “Perhaps Most Controversial Woman In America Right Now”

Piers Morgan starts out the interview by saying (in a good mannered way), “Joining me now, perhaps is the most controversial woman in America right now. She had the audacity as a black actress to vote for Mitt Romney.” When Dash was asked why she will change her vote this year (in 2008, Dash voted for Obama), she responded, “I would say because of the state of the country. I want the next four years to be different. I believe him [Romney]. I watched him for awhile. When I watched him and his wife on Meet the Press with David Gregory, they spoke to me. They [Mitt and Ann Romney] seemed authentic and genuine … what they said about this country: the need for us to be united and move forward and really bring up our economy and make money.”

Stacy Dash said she “doesn’t understand the fury” over her Romney endorsement tweet. But Dash did not appear to be too bothered by it. She said it was her choice and that she chose Mitt Romney “not by the color of his skin,” but by the “content of his character.”

When asked if Dash had heard from Mitt Romney, she smiled big and said, “not Mitt Romney but Paul Ryan.” Dash said that Paul Ryan called her and said “thank you so much for your support” and that she was brave and that they supported her. That was a classy move on Ryan’s part.

Stacey Dash said, “We are all capable of achieving the American dream, but that has to be something that is self-realized. And to demonize someone for achieving the American dream [Romney] is unfair.”

We don’t know what is most surprising about this story: 1) Stacey Dash is actually 46 years old (she could easily pass for 30), 2) Piers Morgan (who some say has a liberal bias) was so incredibly gracious to Stacey Dash, or 3) the gutter nastiness from some individuals to Dash that propelled her innocuous tweet to be a national story.
